Exactly. Thats what happened to me, I got bored out of my mind with the anime drawing. I ended up picking up an art book and drawing the things I saw in it rather instead. Not to mention I began to draw things outside of 'em from my own ideas. Harder that way really; least with the picture you have some sort of reference image. when its in your head, things tend to shift about and never stay in one coherent picture.

Incidentally it is rather gross how much of DA is Fur or Manga these days. I used to write page art reviews here for a while, but after- what, almost a year of the same droll work with (like you said) a simple hair and eye variant, I said screw it. sides the people making that kind of art were too cheap to even pay me for my work. To think someone couldn't scrape up 2.50usd for a well written review of their art complete with tips for improvement, bastards. ended up working pro bono for so long.

I mean we all try to draw like that when we're first introduced to anime etc. (NO FURRIES to an extent) but as you mature as an artist you start to find yourself getting bored with drawing the same people with just different hair and different colored eyes.
